The Guadalupe to Host Tribute
for Late Poet Angela De Hoyos
Event Is Free and Open to the Public


The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center will host a special tribute in memory of the late San Antonio poet Angela De Hoyos (1924-2009) on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 at 7 p.m. at the Guadalupe Theater, 1301 Guadalupe St., San Antonio, Texas.

The event is free and open to the public.The tribute includes a ceremonial Aztec Dance; poetry reading; video presentation; music; and an Altar of Words. Attendees are invited to bring Angela stories or memories in order to be a part of a special video booth. Reception to follow the event.

Angela De Hoyos played a significant role in the creation, struggle for, and development of the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center as a cultural institution in the community.

The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1980 to preserve, promote and develop the arts and culture of the Chicano/Latino/Native American peoples for all ages and backgrounds through public and educational programming in six disciplines: dance, literature, media arts, theater arts, visual arts and music.
