February 16: Lupe's Art Blend Kick Off Event!

The Push Pens (Theater) Azis (Music) Laurie Ann Guerrero (Poetry)

The Push Pens are the dynamic duo of Dino Foxx and Cros. The two are a unique collaborative of Xicano artists, one straight and one queer identified, working to bridge the gap between the hip-hop community and the LGBTQ community. Their show, "The Barstool Poets Project: Last Call for Truth" a hip-hop musical theater piece based in local westside/southside history of San Antonio that outlines the lives of two very different San Antonio natives with two indelibly similar stories. Azis is an experimental multi-instrumentalist living in San Antonio. Adept in Guitar, Violin, Harmonica, Tabla, Bass Guitar, Mandolin, Trumpet, Drums, and Didgeridoo, Azis is also a poet, visual artist, and throat singer. Azis is a one man band with an electrifying sound that is beyond category.

Laurie Ann Guerrero has been published in Palo Alto Review, BorderSenses, Global City Review, Literary Mama, and Meridians: feminism, race, transnationalism, Feminist Studies. Mrs. Guerrero holds a B.A. in English Language & Literature from Smith College in Northampton, MA, and is an MFA candidate at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey.
