Awaken the Sleeping Poet, Barnes & Noble Northwood
Thursday, October 27, beginning at 7 p.m.
We have Juan Perez and Peter Holland
as featured readers. They'll be reading
their spookiest and most macabre
poems to celebrate Halloween.

Juan Perez

Juan Manuel Perez is a Mexican-American poet from La Pryor, Texas.
He is the San Antonio Poets Association 2011 Poet Laureate. He is the
author of Another Menudo Sunday (2007), the e-book O'Dark Heaven:
A Response To Suzette Haden Elgin's Definition of Horror (2009) and
six poetry chapbooks, including the horrifically acclaimed Dial H for
Horror (2006). Juan's newest book is WUI: Written Under the
Influence of Trinidad Sanchez, Jr. was compiled in Trino's honor and
was released in February 2011. Besides a member of SAPA, he is also
a member of The Poetry Society of Texas, The San Angelo Writers' Club,
the Science Fiction Poetry Association, the Horror Writers Association,
the Alamo Area Poets of Texas, and the Writers of the Rio Grande.


Peter Holland

Peter Holland is a native of San Antonio. He has been writing poems
and stories since high school. Over the last decade plus he has been
a regular at many local open mic readings. He is an active member of
the San Antonio Poets Association. He is also a member and current
president of the Alamo Area Poets Association. He is a member of the
Poetry Society of Texas. He has had a chapbook “A Year in South Texas”
published by Pecan Grove Press as well as in several local anthologies,
and the newspaper. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History from UTSA.
