SLHW to host Literary Agent in April



GREAT NEWS:


On Saturday April 20 the Society of Latino and Hispanic Writers will host its first Literary Agent ever – LETICIA GOMEZ!

The event will be held at Viva Bookstore located at 8407 Broadway in San Antonio at 9:30am. We still don’t know the admission price but will inform you as soon as we have it.

Ms. Gomez is the owner of Savvy Literary Services a start-up full-service literary agency that specializes in the Latino book market. The prime directive of her agency is to offer professional literary representation to Latino and other minority writers.

*Types of projects/genres interested in representing
*Preferred method of initial contact and what to submit for fiction and non-fiction
*What exactly does a literary agent do? –
*How much does a literary agent get paid and when?
*Writing and selling Fiction vs. Nonfiction:

As a non-published author

*Advances vs Royalties:
*Why will it take so long for my book to come out? : Explanation of the editorial process which takes 12 to 18 months after the contract has been signed.
*Overview of types of publishers
