Poetry in the Spirit of Trino
From Bihl Haus Arts:
Dear Friends of Bihl Haus Arts,
The spirit of Trino--Trinidad Sanchez, Jr. (1943-2006)--is ALIVE through poetry at Bihl Haus Arts this Friday night, Sept. 25th, starting at 6:30 pm. We've opened the gallery to the American Indians of Texas at the Spanish Colonial Missions (AIT-SCM) for a commemorative reading al Estilo Trino--in the style of Trino--and boy did he have great style and presence with a voice that spoke across generations, racial and cultural lines, and economic divides.
Poets Andrea Greimel, Ramon Vasquez, and Santiago Garcia will read (perform, really) their moving, funny, ironic, witty poems with all the gusto of mentor Trinidad Sanchez. And if you ever heard Trino read at Bihl Haus, or anywhere else (he was known throughout the U.S. and beyond), you know exactly what I mean.
Trino was our very first volunteer at Bihl Haus. We knew from the moment he entered the gallery in summer 2005 that someone extraordinary had just walked in. He devotion and dedication to poetry set Bihl Haus Arts on a passionate course to support San Antonio's amazing poets. So, please come enjoy poetry at its finest--al Estilo Trino, of course! Andrea, Ramon, and Santiago will be joined by members of the way-too-cool Jazz Poets Society and Writers Blk. Old friends will be dropping in for open-mic.
See you Friday!
Kellen
