The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center is proud to be offering an exciting new class
in LATINA & CHICANA LITERATURE as part of our 2010 education programming.
The class will be led by award winning author LAURIE ANN GUERRERO.
The 14 week session begins, Wednesday September 8th.

Latina/Chicana Literature
Ages 18 to adult
Instructor: Laurie Ann Guerrero
Date: Wednesdays, 6 – 8 p.m.
Location: Guadalupe Gallery Bldg., Literature Lounge, 723 S. Brazos
Registration Fee: $25 GCAC Membership
Tuition: $150/semester
Read and discuss works by important Latina/Chicana writers as we explore the importance of women documenting their stories. Works include fiction, poetry, personal/political essays by Sor Juana Ines De La Cruz, Claribel Alegria, Aracelis Girmay, Diana Garcia, Ana Castillo, Carmen Tafolla, Kristin Naca, Gloria Anzaldua, Gabriela Mistral, Daisy Zamora, Demetria Martinez and others. Participants will be encouraged, though not required, to try their hand at documenting their own stories. ALL ARE WELCOME.
About instructor Laurie Ann Guerrero:
Laurie Ann Guerrero is the author of Babies Under the Skin, winner of the Panhandler Publishing Chapbook Award. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in Borderlands, Feminist Studies, Meridians, Naugatuck River Review, Global City Review, among others. Her manuscript, Blood & Tongues, was a finalist for the 2010 Andres Montoya Poetry Prize. Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Guerrero holds a BA in English Language & Lit from Smith College and is an MFA candidate in poetry from Drew University. She is an instructor of English at Palo Alto College and lives in the Southside with her husband and three children.
