Poetry with Cyra Dumitru

From our friend, Josie Mixon:

Good Day My Fellow Poets,

Happy Summer! It feels like summer already. So sorry I missed the venue on the 18th but I was at a writing workshop in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I wasn't sure I was going to go until the last minute because of $ but determination and ambition helped tremendously (my jewelry sales for gas money etc...). Please join us on June 1st at Barnes and Noble, Ingram Festival, for a fabulous evening of poetry. We will begin at 6:00pm with a poetry workshop at 6:00pm with Jim Brandenburg and at 7:00pm our guest speaker, Cyra Dumitru will present. We will end the evening with open mic from 7:30ish until we read to our hearts content. Please read Cyra's bio below.

Cyra S. Dumitru has been writing poetry all her life. Her poems have appeared in national and regional publications such as War, Literature and the Arts, Nimrod, Southern Poetry Review, Windhover, The Texas Observer, the Texas Poetry Calendar, and the San Antonio Express-News. For the past two years, her poems have been selected to travel around on the VIA Metropolitan buses during the month of April as part of the Poetry on the Move project.
She has three collections of poems, two of which are published by Pecan Grove Press. She teaches writing at St. Mary's University, and has served as a poetry writing consultant for the Children's Bereavement Center of South Texas, various local school districts and the San Antonio Museum of Art.

Poet Hayan Charara says of the poems in her third collection called Remains that, "What's striking about this book is its quiet wisdom; what's remarkable about it is that even when it looks at the horrors and losses of the world, it finds beauty. There are poems of redemption, of compassion, of a poet with a great and necessary understanding of what it means to be human."

I look forward to seeing everyone there. See you Wednesday!!!!
