Rebeca Chapa Tonight! Free!!
Please remember that the monthly meeting of the Society of Latino and Hispanic Writers of San Antonio will be--TONIGHT--Monday, January 14, at the Barnes and Noble (San Pedro Crossing) at 7:30 p.m. This month (thanks to Mary Harder and Sandra Garcia), our guest speaker will be Rebeca Chapa, formerly an assistant editorial page editor and columnist for the San Antonio Express-News!
(From Express-News bio) During Rebeca's tenure with the Express-News, she was the newspaper's political writer covering elections, campaigns and politicians. Before returning to her hometown as a reporter in 2002, Rebeca worked on the state desk of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, traveling around Texas and bringing stories home to North Texas readers. She began her journalism career in 1997 at the Austin American-Statesman. Rebeca is a native of San Antonio and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. Her bachelor's degree in Social Anthropology from Harvard University may explain her love for international travel. Her jaunts include Turkey, India, Nepal, Cuba, Peru, Kenya and the Indonesian island of Bali.
