Here's the latest news from Gemini Ink:

A few of our highlights include our annual fundraising gala, INKstravaganza, which takes place in a little less than two weeks. We’ll be honoring our very own San Antonio writer, John Phillip Santos with the Literary Excellence Award. We still have tickets available, if people are interested they can contact us here at 210.734.9673 or visit our INKstravaganza page, http://geminiink.org/inkstravaganza. We’re also teaming up with the City of San Antonio in celebrating the Bicentennial of Mexico’s 1810 Independence and the Centennial of Mexico’s 1910 Revolution with a few events including, Incantations: Songs, Spells, and Images by Mayan Women featuring a Mayan ceremony, book presentation, and conversation of transethnic publishing with Ámbar Past, and Maruch Mendes Peres of Taller Leñateros in Chiapas, Mexico and Lee and Bobby Byrd of Cinco Puntos Press in El Paso, Texas. The event takes place on Thursday, Oct. 7 at 6 pm at the Instituto Cultural de México (auditorium). And, if that weren’t enough we’re sponsoring alurista’s Tunaluna (Aztlán Libre Press, 2010) book tour. He’s making three stops in San Antonio, one in which will be at Palo Alto College’s Performing Arts Center, where he will be conducting a free Chicano Poetry Workshop on Saturday, October 9. We have a few spots still available, if interested in registering for the class please contact us at our office ASAP.
