Saludos. On behalf of alurista and Aztlan Libre Press, Anisa, Maya Quetzalli and I would like to thank you for your participation in coordinating the alurista Tunaluna Texas Tour in your city. We are very grateful to you and all of our camaradas in the different cities who hosted us, drove us, took us to eat, partied with us, and invited us into their chantes, como familia, to spend the night, or just to visit for a while.
The tour was a tremendous success. We sold over $3,100.00 of Tunaluna books and alurista did 17 different readings, workshops and presentations in seven cities: San Antonio, Seguin, Harlingen, Edinburg, Laredo, Austin and Houston. This was a true collaboration among universities, colleges and community-based businesses and organizations. Thanks to our friends at the University of Texas at San Antonio, Gemini Ink, Palo Alto College, Texas Lutheran University, Proyecto Libertad, the University of Texas-Pan Am Library, Laredo Community College, Laredo Center for the Arts, the University of Texas at Austin, Austin Community College, Resistencia Bookstore, the University of Houston, Nuestra Palabra, and Casa Ramirez. It was a great networking tour, reconnecting us with old friends, and making new ones in the process.
alurista, ever the showman and master poeta, did some amazing readings, workshops and presentations. We got some great press and there were some magical moments that I was very fortunate to have captured in photographs and video. Check out www.aztlanlibrepress.com to view a couple of videos and photos from the tour, one at our home entitled "Menudo con Frijoles," and alurista reading "El Plan Espiritual de Aztlan," with me on the flute, at the Indigenous Day March for Human Rights in San Antonio. If there was any follow-up press, pictures, reviews, or interviews and videos that were done in your city, we would appreciate you sending us a copy of it for our, and alurista's, records.
