Bodies and Babies
Dear Friends of Bihl Haus Arts,
The addage 'paint what you know' comes through with a powerful force in our new show Bodies and Babies, images of motherhood, infertility, the body and children by painter KARI ROBERTS-SACKMANN, which opens with a reception this Friday, July 27th, from 5:30-8:30 pm. Wine and light hors d'oeuvres will be served.
Kari, an artist of deft skill in depicting the human body, works from the personal--a series of intimate self-portraits records her struggles with infertility and pregnancy--and the scientific --as a registered nurse, she cares for preemies in a neo-natal intensive care unit. These luminous works are passionate, timeless. And timely, too. They come at a period rife with increasing attacks intended both to limit women's access to reproductive health care and to social spending programs that serve women.
So, please join us for this very special exhibit. And please save the date, too, for a discussion about Women's Health/Women's Bodies by Dr. Roberta Krueger, an OB/GYN specialist, and Mara Posada of Planned Parenthood on Thursday, August 16th, 7 pm.
Sincerely,
Kellen
