Omni Books Author Tips
From Omni Books:
Author Tip #12:
Using Ezines to promote your book
A key success factor for authors, especially non-fiction authors, is establishing their credibility. Having articles published in magazines is a great way to establish your credibility, but often getting in the mainstream publications on a regular basis is difficult. In this new age we live in, authors can now take control of their article publication by using ezines. There are countless ezines in existence, each with a specific niche or category. And all of them are voraciously hungry for content.
Rather than seeking them out individually, you can place your articles into databases that ezine editors frequent for content. They use your article free of charge, and in exchange, include your biographical byline, which includes information about you and your book.
Here are some to check out:

http://www.ideamarketers.com
http://www.goarticles.com
http://www.knowledge-finder.com
http://www.articlecity.com
A good strategy is to start your blog first and have the articles link to your blog. If you've already written your book, you can write articles related to your book or even "chop" up sections and create articles. If you haven't finished your book, you can use articles as "teasers" and your articles will help drive more traffic to your blog creating more potential buyers when your book is finished.
As a final note, keep in mind the importance of the traditional magazines as well. In fact, as you write for the ezines on a regular basis, you will begin to find your voice and your message. Keep submitting your articles to offline magazines as well as the credibility these publications offer is still very powerful.
