Bihl Haus Arts Celebration

Dear Friends of Bihl Haus Arts,

Friday night is going to be an amazing evening at Bihl Haus Arts. We are celebrating our 5th year in existence! We can’t believe it either! To celebrate we are going to hold our first-ever silent auction. But it won’t be just any silent auction. At auction will be hard-bound copies of the book "Golondrina, why did you leave me?" by author Barbara Renaud Gonzalez, embellished by more than 40 amazing San Antonio artists, including Danville Chadbourne, Joan Frederick, Angel Rodriguez-Diaz, David Zamora Casas, Jane Madrigal, John Davis, Franco Mondini-Ruiz, Jimena Marin, Kat Brown, and many more! They're painting, drawing, and adding photos and objects to the books in singular ways. The books began arriving at Bihl Haus yesterday, and they are gorgeous, and sensuous, and funny, and charming, and poignant. One even talks! I could go on and on. . . Add all of this visual art to Barbara's passionate prose, and you've got the absolutely perfect blend of art and text that would make an extraordinary gift or a beautiful one-of-a-kind addition to your library or art collection.

This auction will be a wonderful event and fundraiser for Bihl Haus Arts. Funds raised will help support Bihl Haus Arts programming. So, please join us this FRIDAY, OCTOBER 8, from 6 to 9+ pm for our first-ever silent auction.

Cocktails and bidding begin at 6:00 pm. The evening includes antojitos, música y mas! At 7:30 Barbara will read a fiery excerpt from her novel to the jazzy strains of percussionist Joaquin Abrego. Bidding closes at 8:30, followed by the big finale when actors recreate the titillating salsa-rumba-tango-flamenco “Golondrina” dance scene. The evening culminates with poolside (weather permitting) dancing to the sensational hip hop infused rock and Latin rhythms of Los Nahuatlatos. Oh, and birthday cake, too! So, get your dancing shoes on, bring your wallets and checkbooks, and join us for a dazzling celebration of text, art, music, food, dance, and 5 years of outstanding programming at Bihl Haus Arts this Friday, October 8th, starting at 6 pm. Suggested donation: $5.00
