Mujeres: The Stories of Women

Janie Alonso has just forwarded me the link to a beautiful documentary on the works of Las Mujeres, a women's writer's group under the auspices of the Center for Women at Our Lady of the Lake University.

The documentary is on YouTube and is about 10 minutes in length. It is powerful and inspiring. I am very proud to know many of the women featured in the clip and am grateful for their contributions to the Society of Latino and Hispanic Writers (SLHW).

SLHW Meeting--Oct. 12

SLHW Meeting--Monday, Oct. 12
7:30 p.m.
Barnes and Noble, San Pedro Crossing
Free and Open to the Public
From Dolly Meral:
After having an unexpected encounter with extraterrestrial beings, Pablo E,
Hawnser
tells us with his testimonies what characteristics qualify a person to
have a contact of this nature.

The fact that these cosmic visitors have personally selected Hawnser shows us
that he meets the requirements necessary to be directly contacted. This direct
contact confirms that these beings live among us to get the information that there
require about our humanity.

Who are these messengers?
From where in the universe did they originate?
How do they make interstellar travels?
Why do they not have open contact with all humanity?
How long have they being visiting us?
What is the purpose of their visits?

In "The Response," Pablo E. Hawnser provides personal experiences,
descriptions of marvelous travels and incredible knowledge while offering the
reader a wonderful opportunity to find answers to questions about their own existence.
Thank you,
Dolores Martina

From Jo Ann Hernandez:

Every weekday from November 16th to December 18th, I would like to post an essay written by an author covering the different ways readers/book buyers can assist People of Color authors in spreading the word about our books. Give shoppers inexpensive ways to spread the word about us. There are things people can do that don’t cost money and supports authors.

You may choose the length of your essay. Bulleted list usually work best, making the suggestions easier to read. Any approach you wish to take is fine with me. I reserve the right to withdraw an essay if I feel it is inappropriate.

If you wish to participate with the essays, just write it, and email the piece to me when you’re finished. There’s no need to notify me until your essay is ready to submit. Please post on your blog and promote this request. Please post your essay to your own blog and have the essay posted to as many of your friend’s blogs as you can. Let me know the total number of blogs along with their links by December 19th. Hopefully, I can have a cash prize for the author that posts their essay to the most places by December 20th.

Christmas is coming. Let’s help shoppers remember authors and their books.
